State Tournament Day 2

Sunday, June 20th State Tournament Day 2 and Father's Day 2010
Tigers start the day with a prayer to our one and only Heavenly Father.
Mr. Ken it must have been a good prayer b/c this day ended as an A+

You know there are women in the dug out when it looks this nice! Thank you Sommer and Lacey for being Dug Out Mommas!
A big thank you to our sponsors for helping our Tigers look nice!

We were undefeated on Saturday, but started Day 2 3rd seed. Luck of the draw had us playing the War Cheifs one more time!

Game 1 of Day 2. 12:40PM....yes it was a hot 12:40!
LPR Tigers vs. Church Point War Chiefs
Defensive Tiger Highlights!
Braden
started us out with a catch at third for the first out of the day!
Freddie played the mound a little bit during this game. He fielded one beautifully and then made a perfect throw to Wyatt for the 3rd out of the inning! Great Teamwork boys!
Coach Steve had Abedn playing back a little bit for these games.....he fielded a ball and then made what seemed like the longest throw over to 1st base.....(maybe b/c my child is on first base!) and that sucker landed right in his glove for the OUT!
Wyatt likes to stare them down over at third, but this time he chased them down between 1st and 2nd.... and tagged the runner on his way to 2nd base ...OUT!
Abedn also tagged a runner down at third base and Wyatt fielded a ball at first and tagged the base for the out!
Our Tigers got 3 outs each inning during this game! It's the OUTs that stop them from scoring boys...Keep it up!
Braden McLin
Zachary Shoultz

One More Downtime pic... Some of the fellas went to the Arena Football Game Saturday night.
I asked Wyatt how it was...first thing he says....we got to take a picture with 2 hot Chicas! Thought the Daddy's might enjoy this too!
And, the Down time continued....We got back to the field and still had to wait. They were a game behind!
Day 2, Game 2
LPR Tigers vs. Live Oak Eagles
Defensive Tiger Highlights
1st Inning.... Eagles got their 7 runs...and boy were they having fun...3 or 4 of those runs were home runs.....
2nd Inning...Our Tigers showed up!
Braden scooped the ball up and made a perfect throw for out #1
Then, Brant caught the pop up for Out #2
3rd Out....Ball hit the runner running from 1st to second......so, that was out #3
We held them....they didn't get a single run that inning.
3rd Inning
Ball was hit way out in LF, Austin scooped it up and made an awesome throw to hold the runner at 1st.
Zachary Shoultz did an excellent job of getting the ball in his hands and holding the runner at 3rd
Braden fielded the ball beautifully, then tagged his base for the final out of the game!
Brent Cobb below

1 more out Fellas! Lacey had them rockin in that dug out...they were so pumped. Our fans were pumped...We were cheering so much at one point in the game....the little Live Oak Eagle on the mound was cheering Lets Go Eagles Lets Go....I thought...oh that's not good to be cheering while you're trying to play baseball!
Tee Time for the Tigers!
Abedn started it off for us! Beautiful hit ...stand up Triple!
Woo Hoo Wyatt. Wyatt got his first homerun during the All Star Season!
Braden had a fine line drive for a stand up double

Logan on 2nd, Freddie on 1st.

Win #2 for the Tigers. Final Score.. Tigers 25 Live Oak 10
Wyatt had asked me to make a tunnel for them to run through....so all of us parent got together to form the tunnel....and we're chanting Tigers, Tigers, Tigers! You Go Tigers...we were on our way to the championship game!
Look at those smilin boys!
After the tunnel....the boys got back in the dug out and they all start chanting...MO-Hawks, Mo-Hawks, MO-Hawks! Coach Steve had promised the boys that if they won the state championship then..all of the LPR All Star TeeBall Coaches would get a Mohawk......

We were one game away from the State Championship and the Mohawks!

Woo Wee....that was fun.....take a break and enjoy some miscellaneous shots!
Brant McSwain
Zachary Stewart
Freddie Wainwright
Chuckle Time! Mr. Ken is Hunter's grandpa and Hunter calls him Paw. Freddie kept hearing him call him Paw....so he called him Coach Paul! Love that!

Hunter Bethel

6U State Championship Game
LPR Tigers vs. Slidell Prodigies. Start Time 9:40PM...You read it write...it was very late, but evidently us Livingston folks come alive after 9PM!

This was a rowdy bunch...they had fans with real baseball cheers and a very loud coach. And, in the back of my mind...I'm thinking where is Mike Kovach when you need him! That's Abedn' PawPaw, and he's the loudest person I know!

Just a little background information.....this was our 3rd time to face the Prodigies...the first time we lost by 3 and the 2nd time the score was 15 to 1 Prodigies. And right after that game... Coach Steve gets the boys in a huddle and says....we can beat that team...you just have to play baseball. Ya'll don't worry about the name of the team or if we've lost to them before....we can beat anybody anytime...we just have to play baseball...

So, let the baseball playing begin!

Coach Lacey had the boys pumped in the dug out, Coach Steve had a strategy in play, Coach Derek had them pumped at the plate and Coach Ken made sure they got on first base....

It was loud...it was really loud...Prodigies were cheering, Tigers were cheering........it was soooooooo exciting...

Defense Tiger Highlights....editor note: I'm a nervous kind of excited just typing this! The feelings are all rushing in again!
1st Inning- First 2 scored. Batter 3 and Batter 4.....both hit pop ups and we caught em...Way to be there Hunter...that was a hard hit ball to left field and Hunter was there for the amazing catch! 4th Batter.....Hit a Pop Up and Bubba was there for the catch...Way to watch it!
Batter 5 got on base, so did Batter 6. Runner on third and a Runner on 1st....Hitter #7 hit a pop up for ole Abedn to catch....You Go Abedn....Out #3...we held them at 2 runs
2nd Inning.....go ahead and sit down for this...it gets better!
First 3 Batters hit and they scored....4th Batter hit...he made it to 1st base...
We are now at the top of their line up....oh no! Ball was hit to short stop...Abedn fielded perfectly...threw to Brant for the out at 2nd and without a flitch... Brant through to Wyatt for the 2nd out at 1st.... CAN YOU SAY DOUBLE PLAY....... our stands went WILD.....it was BEAUTIFUL! I jumped up like a crazy person! Coach Steve had been practicing that and they almost pulled it off during the Slidell tournament.. but they couldn't have picked a better time to pull this one off! GOOOOOOOOOO Tigers!
3rd Inning......Tigers allowed 7 runs...Oh no.... End of the 3rd...score was 12 Prodigies and Tigers 12....
4th Inning was critical... We batted first...and we got our 7 runs! Then, here come the Prodigies...the were determined to get their 7.
But, Brant McSwain and Abedn Kennedy made that impossible......
OUT #1.....out at 2nd Base.... Brant McSwain
OUT #2 ....out at 2nd Base....Brant McSwain
We just needed one more out...I'm sitting there about to pee in my pants.... and I'm saying to myself...somebody catch it...somebody catch....we had 2 men on base ...one on 1st and one on 2nd and we needed to shut them down right here and then the bat hit the ball and it went straight for Abedn and he caught it..... And the fans went wild....the team went CRAZY.....we thought we had won the game! Everybody was on the field, WE WERE ENJOYING OUR VICTORY until the umps made us go back to our seats...you have to play an hour and 10 minutes in championship games....that meant one more inning! We just had to score one run and the ball game would be over with!
Brant McSwain going for the double play!
Their Last Time at the Tee
For 10 out of the 11, this would be their last game to play teeball....for some of us Momma's...that was a sad thing...meant our baby boys were growing up! The Dad's just can't wait for them to get to play some real baseball!

1st Inning...Abedn was the only one that scored....Next 3 Batters were OUTs....
Score was 2 to 1 Prodigies
2nd Inning.... We scored our 7!
Zachary Shoultz was first up at bat...He had a good line drive.....Coaches were hollering at him to stay on 1st, but he was so pumped....he just went for it.... made it to second SAFE!
Abedn Kennedy finished off the 2nd Inning with a stand up triple....scoring 2 runs...to make our 7!
3rd Inning
Braden was up to bat first...made it on base, then Wyatt made it on base....Then, Cobb and Shoultz got out....Here comes Austin....we so needed a 2 out rally! He whacks it.....he hit it so hard....it went under the fence! You only get 2 bases when that happens! Stand up Double for Austin, but it could have been a home run!
Logan and Freddie kept the game alive..getting on base....allowing Hunter to score!
We scored 4 points in the 3rd inning....Going into the 4th...Tigers 12, Prodigies 12 ...
Boy oh Boy did we need our 7 runs in the 4th Inning
Bubba was up to bat first....we made it threw every player this inning...they all got to bat one last time!
Wyatt had an amazing line drive for a stand up triple
Hunter hit the fire out of the ball...beautiful line drive to left field
As you read above...we thought we were finished after Abedn made that final catch and the 4th inning was over with...we had held them in the 4th inning...they didn't score not one single point..
But, Mr. Ump said we had to start a 5th inning and he said if we scored one point...game would be over and we would win b/c they wouldn't be able to catch up!
So, here we go...we were at the top of our line up! 5th Inning
Abedn was up to bad....the fans were going crazy....we were cheering Abedn on....hoping for nice big whack of a homerun!
Abedn whacked it but they caught..... we quickly tried to lift up their spirits....that wasn't going to get us down....
Braden was up to bat.....He got on base....winning run of the State Championship game was now on base!
Wyatt came up to bat next....He hit a good line drive to advance Braden to 2nd and he made it to first
And then, The Cobbster came up to the plate.....Brent has found the sweet spot on that bat a few times this season, and we had all the confidence that he could bring Braden home.........He hit the winning run in.....here comes Braden scoring the winning run!
Hunter Bethel
Brant McSwain
Logan Johnson
Freddie Wainwright
Braden McLin....winning run on base!
The Team meeting Braden as he comes in to score the final point to win The State Championship!

Tigers Win, Tigers Win...LPR Tigers Beat the
Slidell Prodigies 20 to 12.......
Waiting for their first place medals.
How Sweet It IS! A Big Thank you to all of our Coaches! We appreciate you!
And Congratulations!
Dog Pile After the Win! It was a rather organized Dog Pile, but fun for the boys!
Team Huddle! Just before the drenching....You know the Coach has got to get drenched for a championship win....even if the win is for 6 year old TeeBall!
Braden took one for the team! He got just as wet as DAD!

There they are....Your 2010 6U State Champions......
#1 LPR Tigers!!!!!!!

Our LPR fields are named Field A, Field B etc, but at Pelican Park...They are the Bear Field...the Tiger Field...etc... Even though we weren't at home....we were playing on our field....The Tiger Field! Must have been a little bit of destiny and a little bit of good ole fashion baseball that marched our Tigers down victory lane. All I know is.... it was so much fun and it really will go down as the best Father's Day ever for all of our LPR 6U Tiger Dads!

Stay Tuned for one Final Post from the Mohawk Victory Party! July 18th 3:00 at Zachary' Shoultz's house!
